If the UTI Germ Comes to Call  10.22.2023

Urinary Track Inflammation aren’t always easily recognized because they don’t always cause symptoms. A UTI occurs when bacteria from another source, such as the nearby anus, gets into the urethra. The most common bacteria found to cause UTIs is Escherichia coli (E. coli). Other bacteria can cause UTI, but E. coli is the culprit about 90 percent of the time. Healthcare professionals look for symptoms that have occurred at least 3 days per month for the last 3 months.

When the lining of your large intestine (also called the colon), rectum, or both become inflamed. This inflammation (a form of Inflammatory Bowl Disease), usually beginning in the rectum, produces tiny sores called ulcers on the lining of your colon. As cells on the surface of the lining of your bowel die, ulcers form. The ulcers may cause bleeding and discharge of mucus and pus. Most people develop UC between the ages of 15 to 30. Common symptoms are abdominal pain, increased abdominal sounds, bloody stools, diarrhea, fever, rectal pain, weight loss, malnutrition.

Diverticulitis  01.11.2024

Develops when pouches form along your digestive tract, typically in your colon (large intestine). These pouches (diverticula) can become inflamed and infected, which may occur when feces or partially digested food blocks the opening of the diverticula. Some causes are low fiber diet, decreased immunity, obesity, inactivity, smoking, changes in gut microbiome, medications like steroids. The complications caused are abscesses (infected pockets of pus), phlegmon (infected area of abscesses), fistula (abnormal connection of two organs or organ and skin), intestinal perforation (tear in the intestinal wall/colon wall), blockage in the intestine.
